Today BFA has 6 Library cum Creativity Centres and caters to over 2000 students and have sponsored the education of 24 bright deserving students to good English and Hindi medium schools.  Apart from this, as of March 2022, BFA has successfully provided career counselling to 2792 students and vocational training to 146 youth in 28 different courses from 11 reputed institutes across Delhi & NCR. Among the trained students 55 youth have secured placements. Also, 800 students participated in soft skills and life skills classes. Lastly, with the help of our numerous supporters BFA was able to installed 44 Hanging Libraries in 4 states of India.

Pratibha
Pratibha, pursuing B.A. 2nd year, has a younger brother who is studying in a college and a mother who is currently undergoing a spine injury treatment. Her father passed away a decade ago. Her mother started giving tuitions in four shifts so that her children could study and Pratibha took up an unskilled job at a company where she had to separate defective car parts from the lot. There Pratibha got to know about the vocational training provided by Books for All with the support of HCL Foundation. Currently she is taking training in Diploma in IT Course and wishes to do a skilled job in future. “Since today everything is based on computers I am taking this course so that I can be at par in the society. I am even planning to teach computers to the students who come to my mother to take tuitions” says Pratibha.

Firoz Khan

Firoz Khan lives in Noida and comes from a semi-nuclear family which comprises of father, mother, and two brothers, Firoz is the middle child. Currently, he is pursuing B.A. from IGNOU along with his job. He got to know about Vocational Courses through counseling sessions conducted by BFA in his school. Later, he got admitted to the Diploma in IT course where he gained knowledge and know-how of computers. After acquiring new skills he got a full-time job at Asra Ultrasound in Noida sector 78 and has recently bought a motorcycle with his savings and help from his employer. “I am thankful to Books for All for providing us such skill-based courses. I am now able to help my family financially”, said Firoz. He is hopeful for his future and gladly spreads the word around for these counseling sessions and training conducted by Books for All.

Tanu Singh

Tanu Singh originally hails from Gorakhpur but currently lives in Noida sector 16. She comes from an underprivileged family. Her father is a labourer and her mother does knitting work. She did her Operation Theatre Technician course from VIVO and training from Sharma Hospital, Pari Chowk, Greater Noida. Tanu got to know about this course when Books for All came to her school Bhawani Shankar Inter-college to impart career counselling. Today, Tanu is working as a nursing staff at Sumitra Hospital and is supporting her family financially. “I am grateful to Books for All for all the support and guidance that they have provided throughout that helped me immensely in my professional journey”, said Tanu with a smile.

Saurabh

Saurabh is the sole bread winner of his family consisting of widowed mother and younger brother. He was supporting his family, working as a delivery boy and stitching garments while pursuing 12th in Bhawani Shankar Inter-college. He got to know about the Apparel Manufacturing courses at ATDC when Books for All organised a Counselling session at BSIC. Having completed Production Stitching Supervisor Course from ATDC he is now employed at as a Floor Supervisor at Kapoor Garments on earning a very good salary. He is very happy with the way his life has turned around.

Ankit, working as a Quality Checker at Orient Export completed the Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) course from ATDC after counselling by BFA in his school. From the beginning he was interested in fashion designing. Hence he readily opted for SMO course. Since his father was a rickshaw puller and the only earning member in a family of five, he took the first job that was offered to him earning a salary of Rs 11,000. “I am thankful to BFA for giving me all round support and an opportunity to learn what I was interested in the most”, said Ankit.

Lalita

Lalita, Quality Checker at Orient Export, opted for the Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) course from ATDC after attending career counselling session by BFA at her school. In a family of six with only her father, a guard as the bread earner, she urgently wanted to get a job. Lalita gets a salary of 11,000 at Orient. “Because of BFA I am now able to help my father in bearing the financial burden of the family. My brothers and sisters can now complete their education without worrying about the school fees anymore”, said Lalita. In future Lalita wants to change her profile to sampling.

Rohan

Rohan, working as an OT Technician in Promhex, got to know about BFA through a career counselling session in his school BSIC where he was intrigued by Operation Theatre Technician (OTT) course offered in VIVO. In a family of four with parents and an elder sister, his father used to be the sole earner of the family before Rohan got placed at a salary of 10,000 per month. Since his father’s job gave inconsistent and irregular income, Rohan’s placement gave a sigh of relief to the family. “After getting this job I was able to help in the expenses for my sister’s wedding. In future I want to pursue B.Sc. in Nursing through correspondence. This will help me grow in my profession, said Rohan.”

Pooja

Pooja got to know about BFA through a friend. After counselling sessions she was guided to opt for Community Technical Skill Programme (CTSP) from Udayan. After getting a basic knowledge about computer application she soon got a job at Sarthi Hospital as a Receptionist, earning 13,000 per month. In future she wants to do Tally course so that she can work under a CA. “This is my first experience of doing a job. Apart from helping my family financially, it has helped me immensely by grooming my personality and instilling self-confidence in me”, said Pooja. She wants her younger brother to do the same course and enhance his skill set after passing Class 12.

Shivani

Shivani, working at Maral overseas as a Trainee – Assistant in Designing got this job after pursuing Production Sewing Supervisor (PSS) course from ATDC. She got to know about BFA from a BFA volunteer in whose house her mother used to work as a house help. Though she is the youngest in her family, she wanted to help her parents financially. “I wanted to take up a job after Class 12 because I didn’t want my mother to work at other people’s houses anymore. I am thankful to BFA for giving me an opportunity to learn vocational skills. if not for these skills I would have been a worker with lesser salary and no opportunity for growth”, said Shivani who gets a salary of 16,000 per month. Her role model is her supervisor and she aims to get to that position in the future.
