I. Libraries Cum Creativity Centres

We run 6 libraries within schools for the underprivileged in urban villages. The Library is set up in a room provided by the school. The Library Room is cheerfully painted and provided with simple furniture, durries, White Board, Green Board, Soft Boards, charts, lots of beautifully illustrated story books, art and craft material. The schools earmark a Library period for each class. Every Library has a full time Librarian. The library period is used to encourage children to read books. It is also a place where remedial classes are conducted for weak students and a host of other activities are conducted. Our Main activities include:

  • Reading Story Books which helps children develop a love for reading and exposes them to a world outside their boundaries. Their fluency in language and vocabulary improves organically
  • Theme based quiz and competition in maths, science, geography and various other subjects increases their general awareness
  • Art, craft, Music, dance and drama bring joy and unleash hidden talent. We celebrate Independence Day with patriotic plays and dances, Teachers Day, Earth Day (with theme based slogan writing, poster making etc), Diwali (with Diya decoration and rangoli making), Christmas (with craft) etc
  • Sports day and Annual Day

II. Sponsored Children

Books for All has sponsored the education of 7 bright children (including 3 girls) to an English medium school and 10 girls to a good Hindi medium school. We also coach and mentor them so that they develop them into well rounded individuals.

III. Counseling Inter College Students

This initiative was taken up recently in order to make children aware of the plethora of career option available after 12th grade and to encourage them to go in for voca-tional and job oriented courses rather than just a degree course in the arts, com-merce and science streams. Students are showing immense interest in the counseling sessions. The challenge is garnering information and helping bright students economically as all these students are from the underprivileged sections of society
